2010 Reading Challenges - 3rd quarter update

I meant to post this yesterday, but I didn't finish updating the list soon enough. I'm doing well on some challenges and have even completed a couple. I'm also right on track to read 100 books in 2010.

Does "the boy in the striped pajamas" count? I know it's not a color name, but the feeling of stripes is exactly color and colorless areas, isn't it? Well, it's really hard to find books with colors in the title...

I have little doubt that you'll make it to 100 books this year. You've read some pretty interesting titles so far.

As for color books, the first book that came to mind was Nathaniel Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter. It's not exactly a favorite of mine, but I do enjoy it. I haven't read Ted Dekker's "color" thrillers, but my brother and mom and a good friend love them. There are four of those--Green, Black, Red and White. Francine Rivers' Scarlet Thread and Angela Elwell Hunt's The Silver Sword, The Golden Cross, and The Emerald Isle would be some more options--for that matter, C.S. Lewis's The Silver Chair would probably work.

We are a not-for-profit educational organization, founded by Mortimer Adler and we have recently made an exciting discovery--three years after writing the wonderfully expanded third edition of How to Read a Book, Mortimer Adler and Charles Van Doren made a series of thirteen 14-minute videos, lively discussing the art of reading. The videos were produced by Encyclopaedia Britannica. For reasons unknown, sometime after their original publication, these videos were lost.

Three hours with Mortimer Adler on one DVD. A must for libraries and classroom teaching the art of reading.

I cannot over exaggerate how instructive these programs are--we are so sure that you will agree, if you are not completely satisfied, we will refund your donation.
